La Mouy is a place to stay, but also a wonderful place to do something you love.

You might spend the morning painting in the garden, cook with ingredients gathered at a local market, discover the wines of the region, or set off with a camera to capture one of the Dordogne's beautiful villages. And somewhere in between, there will always be time for a long lunch, a swim in the pool, a good conversation or simply an hour to just relax.

Each retreat is created together with people who bring genuine knowledge and passion for what they do - artists, cooks, wine experts and other wonderful collaborators - and La Mouy provides the setting, the hospitality and all those little details that make being away feel special.

And because our retreats are intentionally small, they feel less like joining a programme and more like being welcomed into a home. There is time to learn, explore and take part, but also time to linger over breakfast, wander through the garden or pour another glass of wine as the sun goes down.

Markets, local producers and the wonderful flavours of autumn - five delicious days cooking, eating and discovering the Périgord.

Autumn is a wonderful time to eat in the Dordogne. The markets are filled with walnuts, mushrooms, apples, pumpkins, cheeses and all the beautiful produce that arrives as summer gives way to autumn. Over five relaxed days, we'll explore some of our favourite markets, meet local producers and fill our baskets with whatever looks too good to leave behind. Then we'll bring it all home to La Mouy.

Together, we'll cook delicious, generous food inspired by what we've found that day - not as a formal cooking course, but in the way we love to cook here: around the kitchen table, with a glass of wine, plenty of conversation and everyone joining in.

We'll visit the wonderful Saturday market in Sarlat, discover some of the people and produce that make the Périgord such an extraordinary food region, enjoy a lovely lunch out and leave plenty of time simply to be at La Mouy.

Slow breakfasts. A walk through the autumn countryside. A book by the fire. Perhaps a dip in the hot tub before dinner. And, of course, there will be long evenings around the table - good food, good wine, candles, laughter and absolutely nowhere else you need to be.

MADE BY HAND - A creative retreat at La Mouy

Clay, colour and fire - creative autumn days in the Dordogne to make, experiment and discover.

Spend a few wonderfully creative days meeting local makers, stepping inside their ateliers and trying your hand at techniques you may always have wanted to explore. We'll work with clay, experiment with beautiful surfaces and colour, discover different ceramic techniques and gather around the fire as some of our pieces are transformed through an outdoor firing.

Between workshops, we come home to La Mouy. There will be long lunches, good wine, time to relax, a dip in the outdoor hot tub and evenings around the fire.

This isn't a complicated art course and you certainly don't need to arrive knowing what you're doing. Come curious. Get your hands dirty. Make something that is entirely your own.

CHRISTMAS IN THE DORDOGNE - A festive winter retreat

Christmas markets, candlelit streets, fireside evenings - and a little Swedish Christmas magic in the French countryside.

Enjoy the Dordogne at one of its loveliest times of the year - Christmas. We'll wander through Christmas markets and beautifully illuminated medieval streets, taste seasonal treats, discover local producers and come home to La Mouy for hot drinks, wonderful food and evenings around the fire.

And one evening, France gives way to Sweden. As your host, and a Swede, I couldn't imagine Christmas at La Mouy without sharing a little of my own Christmas with you. We'll light the candles, pour the glögg and gather around the table for a traditional Swedish Christmas smörgåsbord - filled with the food and traditions I grew up with and still love today. A generous, candlelit evening of home-cooked food, stories and plenty of Christmas cheer.

There will also be time for winter walks, the outdoor hot tub, perhaps a little Christmas making or baking, and the simple pleasure of having nowhere you need to rush to.

Winter is truffle season in the Dordogne - and one of the most fascinating times of the year to discover the food and traditions of the region. We'll head out with a local truffle grower and their dog to discover how the elusive Périgord black truffle is cultivated and found, visit one of the region's winter truffle markets, and learn how to make the most of this extraordinary ingredient in the kitchen.

And, naturally, we'll eat it too.

Back at La Mouy, winter is all about slow breakfasts, wonderful meals, good wine, the outdoor hot tub and long evenings around the fire. This is the Dordogne in its quieter season - earthy, delicious and wonderfully unhurried.

Booking and payment

To reserve your place, a 40% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 8 weeks before the retreat.

Cancellation policy

The initial deposit is non-refundable. If you need to cancel after the final balance deadline, the full retreat fee remains payable unless your place can be rebooked.

La Mouy can be yours exclusively for a private retreat of up to eight guests, with four beautiful en-suite bedrooms and an experience created especially around your group.
